Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is an uncommon mesenchymal neoplasm and usually affects the pleura. Extrapleural SFT could occur to many anatomic sites. Though most SFTs are benign, malignant transformation had been reported. The reported incidence of SFT developing from the head and neck area is 6%. SFTs originating in the oral cavity are even rarer. Only 7 cases of benign mouth floor SFTs had been found in the literature. Here we report a 48-year-old woman with SFT presenting as a mass in the mouth floor. The patient underwent transcervical surgical excision. Histological examination of the tumor showed positive staining for CD34 and STAT6, providing evidence of SFT. After two years of follow-up, there were no signs of tumor recurrence. Although mouth floor SFT is a rare tumor, it should be included in the differential diagnosis of an oral cavity mass.(J Taiwan Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 2020; 55:116-120)
