Because primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) metastasizing to the palatine tonsillar is extremely rare and only 11 cases have been reported to date, this type of cancer is challenging to diagnose. Therefore, patients who initially present with only an oral lesion and have no history of primary HCC may receive a wrong diagnosis. This article reports a case of a middle-aged woman who presented with a globus sensation that she had experienced for 1 month; the article also presents a review of the literature that was conducted to identify optimal management strategies and predictive factors for HCC in order to improve survival outcomes.
