Oncocytic cyst is a rare benign tumor of salivary gland. It is more commonly found in patients of 50-60 years old. Although oncocytic cysts can be found throughout the upper respiratory tract where minor salivary glands are located, larynx is the more common location. With histology similar to that of Warthin's tumor, oncocytic cyst has been referred to in the literature as extraparotid Warthin's tumor, oncocytic cystadenoma and other names. Patients with laryngeal oncocytic cysts often present with hoarseness, globus sensation, and breathing difficulty. Oncocytic cysts in the nasopharynx can cause aural fullness, hearing impairment and nasal obstruction. Here we present a case of incidental nasopharyngeal oncocytic cyst, and a review of its histology, characteristics and clinical symptoms.
